Ddl And Dts Connect License Activation Serial
Okay, so I've recently been thinking about getting a DDL/DTS Connect (either/or would do, though both would rock) sound card. At the moment, my favourite option is the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude. However, I have a few questions before I make up my mind, which I'm hoping you guys can answer.Firstly, I mostly use my computer for listening to music, and occasionally gaming (from an audiovisual perspective). What exactly are the limits of DDL regarding music/TV? Will it output 'true' surround sound for either/or/both/neither? I think DDL and DTS Connect are intended primarily for gaming, is that right? Secondly, am I correct in thinking that you only need an AV receiver with Dolby Digital/DTS and appropiate digital input slots to use the real-time encoders?
Also, I'm currently restricted to 5.1. Will that pose any compatibility problems at all? Finally, since it is currently my preferred option, does anyone here have anything particularly positive/negative to say about the Prelude? Thanks in advance for any help! If you'll be using a digital connection I'd question whether you need the Prelude.
You pay a premium for the Auzentech card because of the high quality analogue components used. I have a Prelude that I usually use through a digital connection and it's really overkill. I'm just hesitant to replace it with a cheaper card because it's relatively problem free at the moment. If you're dead set on an X-Fi, I'd suggest the cheaper Creative X-Fi Titanium (not the Fatal1ty model). If you look around you may be able to find a cheaper still OEM X-Fi with optical in and out ports.
The model you need to look for is the SB0770. There are a few on ebay at the moment.
This is basically a PCI version of the Titanium but doesn't include Dolby Digital Live or DTS Connect. You can pay an Extra US$5 to Creative (US site only) to get them enabled though.Alternatively you might consider cards from the Asus Xonar range. There's the DS (DTS Connect Only); the DX or D1 (Dolby Digital Live only - plus some other Dolby bells and whistles like Dolby Headphone); the D2 or D2X (all Dolby and DTS features). If you're really feeling flush there's the Essence ST and STX, which have built in headphone amps and higher quality analogue components.Again, for digital connection I'd say stick to the cheaper models (DS, DX, D1 or maybe D2/D2X if you really need both DDL and DTS Connect)I've owned a Xonar D2 and would say it was on par with my Prelude for everything but gaming (and even then I preferred gaming with headphones on the Xonar until I added an exteral Dolby Headphone receiver / amp to the prelude). Xonars are still very good gaming cards and a decent upgrade from onboard. Alright.I will be using a digital output, yeah (ideally coaxial, though optical works too).
Probably should've said that in my first post, whoops! Why exactly do you consider the Prelude to be 'overkill' for that?:S Is it better for multi channel input or something? The problem with the card you suggested is that it seems to only be PCI-E. I'm limited to PCI options at the moment.
Probably should've mentioned that in my first post too, sorry.Oh, and I'm not that fussy about DTS Connect, really. I'd prefer DDL at the moment, it would just be something nice to have. Nor am I particularly obsessed with getting a card with an X-Fi chipset.

I just want a good quality card with DDL instead of the cheap ass PCI card I'm using at the moment. Click to expand.I don't have either card, but Asus' website seems to suggest that the DS only has DTS tech, while the DX seems to have Dolby tech. So I guess it comes down to which company you prefer. Alternatively, you could just go for the D2 or D2X, which supports both DTS and Dolby encoding.
Keep in mind that the DX will need a PCI-E slot, while the DS needs a regular PCI slot.As for the optical port on the DS, it is there, it's just combined with a 3.5mm slot, so yes, you will need an adaptor for it. Said adaptor is provided with the sound card, though.
